It was an action-packed night in Kuala Lumpur thanks to the latest offering from Asian MMA organization ONE FC. The show, dubbed “Destiny of Warriors” featured a number of familiar faces on the lineup including Masakazu Imanari, Roger Huerta, and Renato Sobral.
Sobral, who hadn’t fought since a 2010 loss to Dan Henderson, returned to the ring showing little rust as evident in a quick submission of opponent Tatsuya Mizuno. The finish came after Mizuno scored an early takedown only to end up in the Brazilian’s clutches where “Babalu” sealed the deal with a slick Armbar. The stoppage came less than a minute into the opening round of their bout.
Huerta and Imanari were not as fortunate with each suffering a defeat. A master of leg-locks, Imanari was never able to lock anything concrete in and ended up on the wrong end of a Unanimous Decision with Leandro Issa picking up his seventh straight win. Meanwhile, Huerta fell for the fourth consecutive time after being knocked out cold with a soccer kick by late replacement Zorobabel Moreiria. It was also his third loss by way of a strike-based stoppage.
