The Bellator summer series kicks off with the light heavyweight tournament quarterfinals on June 22nd at Bellator 71.
In addition to the tournament bouts, Bellator 71 also features the debut of former Strikeforce heavyweight Brett Rogers.
Bellator 71 takes place from the Mountaineer Casino Resort in Chester, West Virginia. It will be streamed free on Bellator.com and Spike.com at 7:00pm ET.
Main Card (Light Heavyweight Quarterfinals)
Tim Carpenter defeated Beau Tribolet by armbar submission (verbal) at 4:51 of the second round. Carpenter, a late replacement in the tournament, advances to the semifinals.
Emanuel Newton defeated Roy Boughton by rear-naked choke submission at 0:49 of the second round.
Attila Vegh defeated Zelg Galesic by rear-naked choke submission at 1:00 of the first round.
Travis Wiuff defeated Chris Davis by technical knockout at 4:12 of the first round.
Preliminary Card
Neil Johnson defeated Brylan Van Artsdalen by rear-naked choke submission at 4:29 of the second round.
Jason Butcher defeated Duane Bastress by triangle choke submission at 1:03 of the first round.
Kevin Zalac defeated Chris Goldbaugh by unanimous decision.
Josh Stansbury defeated Dan Spohn by triangle choke submission at 2:36 of the first round.
Brett Rogers defeated Kevin Asplund by technical knockout at 5:00 of the second round. Rogers picks up a win in his Bellator debut. The fight was stopped after the second round by the cageside doctor. Asplund was bloodied and battered with his left eye almost completely closed.
