I think Sonnen is a very tough opponent and tougher than most people think. In the first fight against Anderson Silva, he almost won. So, I'm expecting a great war, and I think it will be one of the toughest fights of Jones' career, mainly because Sonnen can destabilize the opponent emotionally." - Greg Jackson via Tatame
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones' head coach Greg Jackson breaks down Jones' upcoming opponent Chael Sonnen.
Sonnen, a former UFC middleweight contender, shocked the MMA world at UFC 117 when he dominated middleweight champion Anderson Silva for five full rounds before falling victim to a triangle choke in the closing minutes of the fifth.
Sonnen's performance garnered him widespread fame and adulation, but days after, the California State Athletic Commission revealed that Sonnen's urine analysis came back positive for high testosterone.
According to the CSAC, Sonnen's T:E ratio during the fight was 16:9:1. A normal T:E ratio is 1:1, and the commission allows a maximum of 4:1.
Though Sonnen's positive test has somewhat tainted his performances inside the Octagon, the high level collegiate wrestler always brings the fight to his opponents with his high pace and aggressiveness.
Both fighters are currently serving as opposing coaches for the upcoming 17th season of "The Ultimate Fighter," and are scheduled to meet on April 27 in Newark, New Jersey.
