Ben Askren vs. Karl Amoussou, King Mo’s debut confirmed for Bellator 86

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed on Tuesday that welterweight champion Ben “Funky” Askren will meet Karl “Psycho” Amoussou at Bellator 86 on Januaray 24th. In addition, the event will also feature the debut of former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.

The undefeated Askren (10-0) captured the Bellator welterweight title in 2010 with a unanimous decision win over Lyman Good. Askren, a wrestling specialist, has since successfully defended the title on two occasions. He outpointed Jay Hieron at Bellator 56 and then Douglas Lima at Bellator 64.

Amoussou (16-4-2) earned the title shot against Askren by winning the Season 6 welterweight tournament with a first round submission of Bryan Baker at Bellator 72. He advanced to the tournament finals by defeating Chris Lozano and David Rickels.
