Georges St-Pierre: “I’m excited to finally get back in the Octagon and reclaim my spot as the UFC welterweight champion.”

After months of speculation the UFC has finally confirmed welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will make his return to the ring on November 17 at UFC 154 after an extended absence due to injury. As expected, St-Pierre will face interim title-holder Carlos Condit at the event where one of the two men will emerge as the division’s undisputed king.

“I’m excited to finally get back in the Octagon and reclaim my spot as the UFC welterweight champion,” said St-Pierre in a press release from the promotion. “Carlos Condit is a very tough opponent. He has really good striking and very good submission skills. I respect him and look forward to fighting him in front of my hometown fans in Montreal.”

Condit also expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming bout, admitting the belt around his waist means nothing without success against St-Pierre.

“I still have not realized my goal of being the UFC welterweight champion, and to do that, I need to defeat Georges and unify the belt. I’ve worked my entire career for this fight, and I am excited it is finally happening,” he stated.

Other bouts confirmed by the UFC for the November lineup include Mark Bocek-Rafael dos Anjos, Patrick Cote-Alessio Sakara, and Johny Hendricks-Martin Kampmann.
