UFC welterweight Jake Ellenberger is one of the most talented fighters in the division. He’s beaten a number of highly-respected adversaries and is 6-1 in his last seven fights. Unfortunately for Ellenberger, that lone blemish came in his last bout, and as a result he understands he has a lot of work to do before putting himself back in position to challenge for a championship.
“The division keeps getting better. It’s hard to put together a win streak in any division, especially in the welterweight division. There are so many guys who are underrated, incredible and go unrecognized,” admitted Ellenberger in a conversation with MMAInterviews. “I think it’s so hard to put three, four, or six wins together to get a championship shot in the welterweight division. Consistency is the big thing. It shows how bad you want something.”
Ellenberger Out for Revenge in Next Rumble
The 27-6 Ellenberger will have an opportunity to right his career trajectory in a little more than a week when he takes on Jay Hieron at UFC on FX 5. The two met once before more than five years ago where Hieron won a Unanimous Decision under the IFL banner.
