Vitor Belfort caused a stir earlier this year following an interview with ESPN in which he gave some vague comments regarding Testosterone Replacement Therapy and following his January bout with Michael Bisping it was revealed that Belfort had been given a therapeutic use exemption for TRT prior to the contest.

Belfort was asked by Tatame.com this week about his use of TRT and explained that the UFC knew all along he had been on it:

"The UFC always knew that I use, do not do it to cheat. I have medical monitoring and UFC also accompanies it. Never broken through anything, always acted cleanly. Do blood tests every week to equal the testosterone levels of a person my age. Many people are averse to treatment. I do not. I am in favor of people being open and fair in what they are doing,"

It should be noted that Belfort has failed a drug test in the past due to testosterone and served a suspension due to that test.
