"I'm not gonna let media or anybody else push me on a date. 'Give us a date. That's all we want. We want a date, Dominick. Give us a date to look at!' I can't. I want a date. I don't have one. I'm listening to my doctors because if I don't do that, I get hurt again. The focus is 'pull the reigns down', pull the reigns on myself. Don't let myself go in there too soon and just do the work I can with the UFC, with my sponsors, do everything I can on Fuel TV and say to the fans I will be back. I'm coming back. I'm working hard. No date yet but I'll give it out when I have it. I promise."
-Injured UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz talks to Sherdog.com about still not having a set return date ahead of him (transcribed by MMAMania.com).
Penick's Analysis: It's got to be insanely frustrating for Cruz to have no real clear timetable to work with. He's probably got little goals here and there with his knee injury, little milestone spots he needs to hit, but without a clear time period to look forward to the process just continues and continues. It's unfortunate for all here, as it would be preferable for the UFC if he was able to return soon, and fans want to see him against Renan Barao now that the Interim Champ has won two Interim Title fights. But on the sidelines he remains, and will for the foreseeable future. And as always here, all that can be done is to wait.
