Former Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard limped into the UFC this past summer, losing a split decision to Tim Boetsch in a bad fight at UFC 149. On Saturday night in his adopted home country of Australia, Lombard showed off just what it was that had people excited to see him in the UFC in the first place.

Lombard took on Rousimar Palhares in the opening bout of the main card for UFC on FX 6, and in a massively one-sided fight scored a first round stoppage under four minutes in.

Lombard began stalking Palhares immediately, staying patient and waiting for openings. They came on a couple of early occasions, with Lombard scoring a couple of knockdowns, but avoiding much action on the ground. Finally, Lombard got Palhares backed up to the cage, and was given free reign to start delivering punches at will.

He picked his spots, then connected on a couple of big strikes that knocked Palhares down a third time. He landed a few more strikes on the ground and the fight was all over.

Palhares has now lost two straight for the first time in his career, while Lombard gets back on track in the UFC's middleweight division.
