Bellator’s Spike TV debut set for Thursday, January 17th

The Bellator Fighting Championships announced that their debut on Spike TV will take place on Thursday, January 17th with Bellator 85. The event will take place from The University of California’s Bren Center in Irvine, California.

Bellator 85 will feature two championship fights. Featherweight champion Pat Curran will put his title on the line against Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and lightweight champion Michael Chandler will square off against Rick Hawn.

In addition to the title fights, Bellator 85 will kick off the Season 8 tournaments. This season will feature five tournaments in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight and light heavyweight weight classes.

Also set for Bellator 85 is the promotional debut of veteran Renato “Babalu” Sobral who will take on Mikhail Zayats in a quarterfinal bout of the light heavyweight tournament.

The main card for Bellator 85 will be televised live on Spike TV at 10:00pm ET.
