UFC 158: Georges St-Pierre says he's playing "a bit of a mind game" with Nick Diaz into Montreal bout

"I play a bit of a mind game, but I never talk about it because it's one of my tricks. Now that you said it, I'm sure other people will hear it and ask me questions about it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to answer. It's part of my strategy... He's very, very skilled. He's very good at controlling the distance and the pace of the fight. He presents lots of problems, but I'm going to solve them... Nick got under my skin, but a lot of people have got under my skin. But that's when I perform the best. The truth is, it's not the first time people trash-talked me, and it won't be the last. This scenario happens for most of my fights... The fight started a long time ago. It's not only the 25 minutes I'm going to fight. The fight has already started."

-Georges St-Pierre talks to USA Today about the mind games he's already engaged in with Nick Diaz into Saturday's UFC 158 event.

Penick's Analysis: It's hard to read St-Pierre this week. Part of him feels flustered and confused at the things coming out of Nick Diaz's mouth. Part of him seems angry. Part of him seems fully confident. Is this him playing into the craziness of Diaz? Or is he trying to make Diaz go a little crazy? It's really hard to say at this stage, and it's something we'll see in how the fight itself plays out on Saturday night in Montreal. Regardless, this past week into the fight has been anything but boring, and we'll see how well that works for the UFC from a fight selling standpoint.
