UFC on FX 8 in Brazil just added two welterweights with plenty to gain.
Paulo Thiago (14-5) and Lance Benoist (6-2) are the latest additions to UFC on FX 8, according to several published reports.
And both welterweights could be fighting for their UFC lives.
Thiago is 1-4 in his past five outings. He started his UFC career with a win over Josh Koshchek followed by a decision loss to Jon Fitch. He got back on track with victories over Jacob Volkmann and Mike Swick. But next came loses to Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann. Thiago got back on track with a decision win over David Mitchell, but then lost two more, first to Siyar Bahadurzada and most recently, Dong Hyin Kim in November.
Benoist made his UFC debut with a Fight of the Night bonus and victory over Matt Riddle in September of 2011. He has followed that with consecutive decision loses to Seth Baczynski and Sean Pierson. The slick submission expert started out his career with six-straight wins.
UFC on FX 8 is slated to take place on May 18 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The events main card airs live on FX following prelims on FUEL TV and Facebook.
