Cris Cyborg has a new opponent for her debut with Invicta Fighting Championships, just two weeks before the Invicta FC 5 event. IFC officials announced on Tuesday night that her originally scheduled opponent, Ediane Gomes, had been injured, and that she'll now face off against Fiona Muxlow.
Cyborg, the former Strikeforce Women's Featherweight Champion, hasn't fought since December of 2011, and makes her Invicta FC debut after being granted a release from Zuffa with no 145 lb. division coming to the UFC. She spent 2012 under suspension after failing a steroid test, a result that stripped her of the Strikeforce title.
The 35-year-old Muxlow was already scheduled to fight on the Invicta FC 5 card on April 5, but the 6-2 Australian featherweight has opted for the higher profile fight. Her originally scheduled opponent, Strikeforce vet Julia Budd, is expected to get a new opponent herself.
